Natural parks in the region of Zadar are Telašćica (a bay on an island called Dugi Otok), Vransko Lake (the biggest natural lake in Croatia) and a mountain called Velebit.
In 1978 Velebit was declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.
